GoLove vs Replika: the incumbent and the open door
Replika's own site says it built the world's first AI companion ten years ago and has since rebuilt the product from the ground up. It does not say what the product costs.

What Replika leads with
Replika's homepage is unusual in this category for not leading with features at all. It leads with longevity: the claim that it built the world's first AI companion ten years ago, and that it has now rebuilt the product from the ground up.
The framing is companionship broadly rather than romance specifically — an AI friend to do life with, in their words. That is a meaningfully different pitch from most of the apps it gets compared against, which lead on girlfriends and generation.
Neither one publishes a price
Replika shows no pricing on its public site; it routes through the app stores. GoLove shows none either. So on cost, this comparison is a draw at zero — neither lets you plan a budget before registering.
That makes the usual value question unanswerable and shifts the decision onto things you can actually observe.
| GoLove | Replika | |
|---|---|---|
| Public price | Not published | Not published |
| Reach the product without registering | Yes — opens in-app | No — app-store led |
| Positioning | Companion chat with media generation | AI friend, companionship broadly |
| Stated track record | Not stated | Ten years; first AI companion |
| Adult content | Yes, 18+ | Not its positioning |
The real split: what they are for
This is less a head-to-head than two different products that share a category label. Replika's pitch is emotional continuity and a relationship that persists; it is not sold as an adult content tool. GoLove is explicitly 18+, with image generation, video and a series section alongside the chat.
If you want a long-running companion with the least amount of adult framing, those are different requirements than wanting an uncensored companion that also generates media, and the two products answer different ones. Picking on price would be the wrong axis even if the price were published.
What you can test today
GoLove you can simply open: an entry link lands you inside the app with a session already created, so you can judge the writing in a couple of minutes. Replika requires going through its app, which means an install and an account before you learn anything.
If you want both, start with the one that costs you nothing but attention, and let that set the bar you hold the other to.
What a decade buys, and what it does not
Replika's age is its most-repeated claim, and it does mean something concrete: a product that has survived ten years has survived several model generations, at least one major content-policy controversy, and the shift from novelty to crowded market. Very little else in this category has.
What it does not buy is a current advantage. The models underneath every app here were replaced wholesale in the last two years, which is why Replika's own site talks about having rebuilt the product from the ground up rather than about continuity of code. Longevity tells you the company will probably still exist next year — worth something when you are investing months of conversation into a profile — but it does not predict how well the thing writes today.
GoLove has no comparable track record and does not claim one. If durability matters to you more than anything else on this page, that is a real point for Replika and we are not going to argue it away.
